Three very bad things happened as a result of the Fall (in the Garden of Eden):

–Division between God and the human race.
–Division between humans and other humans.
–Division within each person.

And since the Fall, many have labored passionately to remove the divisions and brokenness between humans and within humans, and to bring wholeness for each person and for the human race. But WHOLENESS is not a method, it’s a PERSON — a person named Jesus. And until estrangement with God is dealt with, all other efforts to bring wholeness will ultimately fail.

But the glorious Gospel, via the Blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, has made a way, and offered an unshakable foundation upon which all other efforts at wholeness can be built. That is why we must never, in the midst of our efforts, neglect the preaching of the Gospel: Calling lost human beings to the foot of the cross, where they can encounter a loving Savior, repent of their sins, and be saved and made whole.

“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:” (Romans 1:16)

Today is the National Day of Prayer,
an especially good reminder to be praying for our nation.

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever;” (John 6:51)

What are you most hungry for? Where are your hungers and desires taking you? Whatever we are most hungry for will define our lives (You are what you eat!).  Hunger is as hunger does. Whatever we make time for in our lives is a good litmus test of what our true hungers and desires are.  I remember years ago thinking about prayer and fasting, and God told me that the day I wanted Him more than I wanted food, I would fast.

“It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” (Matthew 4:4)

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

Now is the time to press in for more of Him. No other food will sustain us in these days.

“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever! Amen.”
(Romans 11:36)

Jesus, help us to break free from our own gravity today
(all our inner monologues, desires, plans, distractions
and self-absorption) and to revolve around You.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18,19)

Was 2016 kinda dry?
May this year be a year of refreshing and renewal!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)

Further up and further in!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

“Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)

It seems to me that this is a journey many of us are on: When we set Jesus as the delightful center of our lives, then He begins to change who we are and what we want (as we learn to abide in Him), until our former, natural priorities and desires (the “old man’s” game plan) change and are transformed into His priorities and desires.

And when this happens — when we want what He wants — then we whole-heartedly embrace the delightful adventure and call that He has for our lives.
