Loving people with “1 Corinthians 13” LOVE is as much a miracle
as raising someone from the dead.
We must have God’s Power and Presence
operating in and through us to do either one.
And that only happens when we surrender ourselves
completely to Him.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another;
as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
(John 13:34)
Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that You are pleased with me and with your people unless You go with us? What else will distinguish me and Your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” (Exodus 33:15-16)
“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
Without the Presence and Power of God, Christianity is just another philosophy and religious system competing against other philosophies and systems. But the big question is: How do we get this power to actually operate in our lives? And how do we make sure that His tangible Presence goes with us?
I felt like Holy Spirit reminded me of something last night. It’s not new and it’s not rocket science: “You get what you settle for.” If we are happy to settle for a powerless, Presence-less Christianity, then that is most likely what we will end up with. But if we are not happy to settle for powerless Christianity, then we must not stop pressing in and stepping out in faith until He shows up in power.
“We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” (Hebrews 6:11-12)
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
