Prophetic timebombs!!!

Wow.  In the aftermath of Easter, I found myself thinking about the prophetic time bombs that God wove into the narrative of Jesus’ trial before Pilate and elsewhere.  Consider this:

• The Jewish people said this about Jesus: “May his blood be on us and on our children!” and in the natural, this was bringing a curse on them — accepting their guilt as accomplices to the death of an innocent man. But it was also a prophetic cry (even thought they did not know it) that would one day be a reality.  Jesus said to Israel: “For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'” (Matthew 23:39) And when Israel does this, His blood WILL be on them and on their children — the saving, cleansing blood of the New Covenant in Yeshua.

(This is similar to the inadvertent prophecy uttered by the High Priest who said that it was good for one man to die for the sake of the nation. “He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.” – John 11:51)

• And the man who was released in place of Jesus was named Barabbas. And the amazing thing is that his name means “son of the father”. And so the One true Son of the One true Father was killed so that this other son of the father (perhaps representing Israel as sons of the old covenant) could be set free and one day perhaps truly become a true son of the one true Father in the New Covenant.

Dude, I am certainly not saying that this is all or only what was going in in these situations and scriptures, but it seems to me that God’s word and plan are filled with these prophetic “Easter eggs” that are just waiting for us to seek and discover — if we will take the time to do it. (“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” – Proverbs 25:2)
