I believe the practical outworking of this is to simply learn how to hear the voice of God, and then to regularly listen for Him and do whatever He says.

That means we don’t have to be brilliant or exceedingly clever — just ATTENTIVELY AVAILABLE.  This, IMO, is a big part of the “crucified life” — to regularly, throughout our day, pay the emotional price of unplugging from our inner monologues and to-do lists and distractions and connect with Holy Spirit and seriously listen for whatever ways He might want to tweak or overhaul our plans/goals for that moment or that day — and enter into what I call “the adventure of Holy Ghost improv.” 

He might tell you to pray for that person next to you in the check-out line.  Or to share the Good News of Jesus with the guy in the next cubicle.  Or forgive your brother.  Or…
