The lens we must ALWAYS and ONLY look through to see other people is the lens of Jesus Christ. But when we decide to avoid or reject people who don’t act or look like us, we are denying the transforming power of the Blood of Jesus — as well as the New Creation that all true Christians have become. And this is a challenge to people of ALL ethnicities, colors and cultures.
When you give more weight to a person’s arguments because they look like you (White, Black, Hispanic, Asian or whatever), you have denied the power of the Gospel and cast aside the lens and wisdom of Christ. When you decide that a person is a criminal or is guilty or innocent of a crime merely because of that person’s color or ethnicity, or because they have hurt someone of your own color or ethnicity, you deny the power of the Gospel.
Because the only true and lasting distinction among people is their ETERNAL DESTINY AND NATURE – and in light of eternity, all other distinctions will be forever erased:
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
And have made us kings and priests to our God;
(Revelation 5:9-10)
